In this Jewish Week article, Lucy Bernholz offers the following commentary on good gifting and online giving marketplaces:
This growing holiday trend — referred to as “good gifting” — “involves giving a philanthropic gift in someone else’s name or giving them the choice of a charitable donation instead of more stuff,” writes Lucy Bernholz, founder and president of Blueprint Research & Design, Inc., a consulting firm for philanthropic organizations and individuals, on her blog, Philanthropy 2173.
Bernholz estimates that there are currently more than 130 online giving marketplaces, with JGooders being the sole portal focused exclusively on Jewish and Israeli causes. “Online giving markets are now an established part of the giving landscape — and for good reason,” Bernholz told The Jewish Week. “At their best, they do high-quality due diligence at low cost and scale, they share great information with donors that has been proven to move people to give and the best of them are leaders in transparency, accountability and engagement.”
